EXODUS / DMZ @ WEST INDIAN CENTRE

Exodus /DMZ took over the West Indian Centre again this Saturday with a ridiculous line-up than shames most other nights around the country, including Kryptic Minds, Hatcha, Digital Mystikz & Loefah, Youngsta, Anti-Social, Alix Perez, Calibre and Icicle, with the Iration Steppas providing the sound.

These nights are easily the best dubstep nights about in my opinion. The rawness of the venue with a no-frills attitude, coupled with the incredible sound, line-ups and a sick crowd separates the Exodus nights from most of the other scenester infested "dubstep" nights on the circuit.

First up was Kryptic Minds, and after they impressed at the Wire a few weeks back, they didn't fail to deliver again. They destroyed the place with incredible halfstep riddims, fused together perfectly with chest shattering bass. Let me tell you now Kryptic Minds on Iration sound is the one!!! Hatcha was next up, and despite a couple of technical issues, smacked it as well, dropping everything including Major Lazer, Doctor P and Distance. Pokes took matters into his own hands on a couple of occasions pulling up a few tracks himself!

Absolute badboy Alix Perez played a massive set as well, proving why he is dnb's little boy wonder. Dropping all the big tunes from his brilliant LP '1984', as well as a big bunch of dubplates from the scene's heavyweights Perez got the crowd hype, with SP:MC untouchable on the mic as always.

I only caught about half of Youngsta's set but it was ridiculous! In my opinion, Youngsta is unparalleled behind the decks. As far as technical skill and ability goes, he's up there with the best in the world! Watching him behind the decks is like a masterclass in how to DJ. His blending, teasing and fading unmatched in the scene today.

Overall, it was another sick night and another massive success for Exodus. The venue, the sound, the music and the crowd all point to it being the best dubstep night in the country today so if you haven't already checked it out then get involved!

There is a Subdub event on this Saturday 12th at the West Indian Centre with Iration Steppas, King Earthquake Soundsystem, Skream, Shy FX and more so if you're in the Leeds area then check that out. Facebook event HERE

Big up Simon for helping in doing this review and RIP Easyrider. Our thoughts and deepest symptahies go out to his family at this difficult time.
