FATIMA - MINDTRAVELLIN EP

I wish I had stayed at uni for friday night because I was missed something truly amazing! The Donuts store put on showcase of Alexander Nut's & Floating Points' Eglo records at the Attic Bar in Bristol. Really kicking myself at missing Fatima! If you don't know then get to know because she is going to BIGGG! She's the talk of the town right now (maybe a possible collab with Mr. Theophilus?) and comparisons to Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill have been made so she is definately one to keep your eye on! Personally, her raspyness reminds of Macy Gray! You'll definately remember the song from Sa-Ra Creative Partner - Shafiq Husayn - that caused a stir last summer (always check the RBMA news to keep up!) - 'Lil Girl'. Well now men like Alex Nut & Floating Points has put out her her first solo release.

The Mindtravellin' EP features production from Dam-Funk, VeeBeeO and Funkineven. My favourite cut is the funked out Warm Eyes prod by Dam-Funk. It's full of summertime vibes so call it bbq music if you like! VERY close behind is 'Soul Glo' which simply for the 'Coming To America' reference holds my attention! It's produced by none other than Funkineven (who is at Glastonbury this year!) who keeps the formula simple - Soulful synths + soulful voice = FIRE. Check out the video below which is perfectly fitting. Make sure you Check Mr Nut's pioneering Rinse FM show every saturday from 1-3 pm.
